I … WebJul 15, 2009 · They are better than the E6SE heads that are on many non HO 5.0, but they are nothing special. A quick google shows they flow about the same as a 60's 289/302 head. Probably no advantage over your 72 heads. Unless you prefer pedestal mount rockers over rail rockers with press in studs.

The head most often used on HO engine is a less efficient but better flowing (at high engine speeds) design because of its open chambers; the valve is not shrouded. The e7te is a newer mustang motor87-95 if I remember right. It is a roller block. The e6ae are the motors from the 86 mustang and had pistons with out valve reliefs in them. The e6ae motors didn't have e7 heads they had e6 heads that are junk. The spark plug is at like a 45 degree angle, around a nub, and pointed directly at the exhaust valve. It's like the spark is hidden from the intake valve. Someone must have cracked a head or something and changed before I got the motor.

The valves are recessed so far up inside the head that they are severely shrouded and there's really not enough room to put even a 1.94/1.50 valve in there without lots of grinding. If it were me, and obviously it's not my build, I'd find a cheap set of cast Badger flat tops with 4 valve reliefs and go from ... WebAug 2, 2024 · If the E6SE heads were better, Ford would have stuck with them on the 5.0 HO motors from '87-'93. The E6 heads were only on the '86 5.0 HO (rated at 200 hp). The E7TE is the better head. Mustang owners, racers, magazine editors, etc. would talk, compare, race E6 heads if they were better.

The GT40P is an anomoly, being a designation used for both production and aftermarket performance heads. The only difference in later (post '77) 302 and 351W heads are the bolt holes.
